Barry Alvarez served as head coach at the University of Wisconsin for 16 seasons (1990-2005), amassing a record of 118-73-4. After only winning 15 games in his first three seasons, the 1993 squad turned a corner. The team compiled a 10-1-1 record and its first Rose Bowl appearance since 1963. At the end of the season, Alvarez was named the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year, AFCA Coach of the Year and Big 10 Coach of the Year. Over Alvarez’s career at Wisconsin the Badgers went to 11 bowl games, earned three Big 10 titles (1993, 1998 and 1999) and made three Rose Bowl appearances.
