Dick MacPherson

Dick MacPherson coached at the University of Amherst from 1971-1977 and at Syracuse from 1981-1990 with a head coaching career record of 111-73-5. The Orange’s 1987 team played their way to an undefeated regular season and then tied Auburn in the Sugar Bowl to end the season 11-0-1. Following the season, MacPherson earned several national accolades including the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year, AFCA Coach of the Year, the Paul “Bear” Bryant Award, Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year, Sporting News Coach of the Year, and the Walker Camp Coach of Year.
