Don Nehlen

Don Nehlen’s head coaching career began at Bowling Green State University in 1968 and ended at West Virginia in 2000. Nehlen coached at Bowling Green State from 1968-1976 and was hired as the head coach of West Virginia in 1980.   In 1988 the Mountaineers went undefeated in the regular season but fell to Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl. For his success, he was named the Walter Camp Coach of the Year, AFCA Coach of the Year and the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year. Over his career, Nehlen coached 15 first team All-Americans, 82 All-Big East Conference honorees, and eight-future NFL Players
