Frank Beamer

Frank Beamer accepted the head coaching position at his alma mater, Virginia Tech, in 1987 and is still leading the Hokies. Beamer is currently the winningest active coach in the country. Under Beamer, the Hokies have played in 21 consecutive bowl games, won four ACC titles and earned a trip to the national championship game. His 1999 squad posted an 11-0 regular season and trip to the national championship game, where the squad fell to FSU. For his successful 1999 season, Beamer was awarded the AFCA Coach of the Year, Associated Press Coach of the Year, Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year, George Munger Award, Paul “Bear” Bryant Award, Walter Camp Coach of the Year, Big East Coach of the Year and the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year.
