Joe Paterno

Joe Paterno coached the Penn State Nittany Lions for 62 years from 1966-2011. He led Penn State to two national championships in 1982 and 1986, five unbeaten seasons (1968, 1969, 1973, 1986 1994) and 37 bowl appearances with 24 wins. As head coach at Penn State, Paterno made it his mission to meld athletics and academics in the collegiate landscape. For his success on and off the gridiron, he earned the Bobby Dodd of Coach of the Year Award twice in 1981 and 2005.
