LaVell Edwards

LaVell Edwards coached at BYU from 1972-2000 and boasted an impressive 257-101-3 record as head coach for the Cougars. After a successful 11-1 overall and 7-0 in conference season in 1979, Edwards was named the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year for his commitment to the team on and off the field. The Cougars continued to thrive under Edwards and in 1984 the Cougars went undefeated to win the national championship. Over the course of Edwards’ career the Cougars earned 18 WAC conference titles, and one Mountain West title.
