Paul Johnson has held three head coaching positions at Georgia Southern (1997-2001), Navy (2002-2007, and currently Georgia Tech. Johnson was named the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year after Navy’s 2004 season, when Johnson’s team posted the program’s best record since 1952 with a 10-2 record and a 34-19 win over New Mexico in the Emerald Bowl. The Emerald Bowl victory gave the Midshipmen their fifth bowl win in school history and tied the 1907 school record for most season wins. During his stay at Navy, Johnson’s squads dominated the Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy competition with an 11-1 record in his six years. In 2007 he accepted the job at Georgia Tech, where he is currently coaching.
